Clover Merchant Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Clover POS application for The Local Rewards. It is separate from the mobile-user Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy explains how The Local by Masrawy, supported by Linkify Solutions, collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information on behalf of merchants that install or use The Local Rewards application on the Clover Point of Sale system ("Clover POS"). Because The Local Rewards is currently configured for The Local by Masrawy, this policy is written for that merchant-facing Clover app use.

This Privacy Policy does not replace any privacy policy that a merchant may need to provide to its own customers, personnel, or other individuals.

Information we collect through Clover

We may collect personal information from or on behalf of the merchant when the Clover app is used, including:

  • Merchant and branch information such as Clover merchant identifiers, branch identifiers, device identifiers, and store location details needed to connect a Clover device to The Local Rewards.
  • Transaction and order information such as order identifiers, payment identifiers, purchase date and time, transaction amount, line items, refunds or reversals, and related Clover metadata needed to award or reverse loyalty points.
  • Customer loyalty information such as a customer's rewards account identifier, Clover customer identifier, points earned, points redeemed, eligible rewards, and loyalty activity associated with an in-store purchase.
  • Customer contact information when needed to create or match a loyalty customer record, such as name, email address, and phone number provided through The Local Rewards or Clover.
  • Merchant personnel and device activity limited to operational information needed to enroll, approve, secure, and troubleshoot Clover devices using the app.
  • Technical and diagnostic information such as request logs, app version, device state, enrollment status, errors, and security events.

The Clover app does not independently process card payments. Payments are processed by Clover. We receive only the Clover data needed to provide loyalty and rewards functionality.

How we use the information

We use information collected through the Clover app to:

  • Connect approved Clover POS devices to the correct branch and merchant account.
  • Let workers scan or enter loyalty member information during an order.
  • Create or match Clover customer records for loyalty members.
  • Calculate, award, redeem, reverse, and display loyalty points and rewards.
  • Keep loyalty activity consistent between The Local Rewards and Clover.
  • Operate, secure, debug, and improve the Clover app and related backend services.
  • Provide merchant support, security notices, and important service updates.
  • Comply with law, enforce our terms, prevent fraud or misuse, and protect the rights, safety, and property of The Local by Masrawy, Linkify Solutions, merchants, customers, and others.

We do not sell personal information collected through the Clover app.

How we share information

We may share information collected through the Clover app with:

  • The merchant from whom or on whose behalf we collected the information.
  • Clover, because the app runs on Clover POS and uses Clover services. Clover's Privacy Notice is available at https://www.clover.com/privacy-policy.
  • Service providers that help us host, operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve The Local Rewards.
  • Third parties directed by the merchant, when the merchant instructs us to make information available to them.
  • Professional advisers, authorities, or other parties where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, prevent fraud, or complete a business transaction.

Data subject requests

Individuals who want to access, correct, delete, or exercise other rights over personal information processed through the Clover app should contact the merchant that collected or controls the information. If Clover is responsible for responding to a request, individuals may contact Clover as described in Clover's Privacy Notice.

We will reasonably assist the merchant or Clover, as applicable, with privacy requests related to The Local Rewards, subject to our contracts and applicable law.

Data retention

We retain Clover app information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide The Local Rewards, support the merchant, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and keep loyalty records accurate. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify an individual.

Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed through the Clover app. No system is perfectly secure, and merchants are responsible for protecting their Clover devices, credentials, personnel access, and account settings.

International processing

Some service providers may process information outside Canada. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps designed to protect the information in accordance with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Clover app or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
